If you're looking to get involved on campus, there are many ways to get involved through the Students Support Association. The SEO Scholars program has been helping students achieve their dreams since 1963. There are several ways to become involved in the program, including summer and after-school classes, enrichment programs, and college application counselors and coaches. Student Environmental Organization (SEO)
The Student Environmental Organization is an on-campus club that promotes environmental awareness. Members work on a variety of projects, including gathering signatures to send to Maryland legislators to ban fracking. This controversial process involves drilling into the ground and injecting a high-pressure liquid with chemicals and water. The fluid fractures shale in the bedrock, releasing fuel. Maryland's current fracking moratorium expires Oct. 1, but there are many ways you can get involved.
The Student Environmental Organization helps students become aware of the importance of recycling and upcycling. It collaborates with the Office of Sustainability to host events such as the Campus Race to Zero Waste and organizes recycling bins called RecyAll. Students can also learn how to properly dispose of their waste after dining. RecyAll has recycled 21 million pounds of waste over the past 10 years, which is equivalent to taking 5,000 cars off the road!

Through internships, scholars can gain experience that can spark their future career. Such experiences can lead to leadership roles, opportunities for advancement, and community involvement. Students supported by SEO can take advantage of the resources of 80+ partner companies, including Oliver Scholars SEO. The students support organization has a lifetime support network. SEO graduates have an increased chance of landing a full-time job when they complete the program.
Students who attend under-resourced middle and elementary schools are less likely to be exposed to the rigorous academic curriculum required of competitive high schools. This hampers their chances of graduating from high school and achieving postsecondary success. Oliver Scholars NYC seeks to remedy this problem by identifying and pipelineing top middle school students through a rigorous curriculum. The program's mission is to prepare high-achieving Black and Latinx NYC students for success at a private, independent high school.
SEO Scholars
The success of the Students Support Association SEO Scholars program is exemplary. Over ninety percent of its alumni earn a college degree. The students are given academic and mentoring support, create a powerful network, and engage in positive peer pressure. SEO's mission is to improve the lives of young people by building successful, resilient communities. It has been a national success story since it began in 1986. Today, SEO is a vibrant, eight-year program that accepts 275 freshmen each year out of a pool of over 1,000 applicants. Of those accepted, 80 percent are black and 85 percent are first-generation college students.
The organization began in 1963 as a program for underprivileged students to attend college. It now serves over two thousand young people in NYC public schools and 200 in the SF Bay Area. Founded by a group of educators, SEO is a nonprofit organization that provides academic, mentoring, and career development support to youth. The organization's SEO Scholars program is an intensive out-of-school academic program for low-income students. Its graduates are achieving higher than average college graduation rates, and eighty percent of the Scholars are attending top-rated U.S. News & World Colleges.

It is designed for rising college juniors. Students will gain valuable experience in the tech industry while learning the fundamentals of web development. In addition, students will gain a competitive advantage over their peers by earning their degree sooner.
The SEO Tech Developer program provides a comprehensive curriculum, training, and mentoring for Black, Latinx, and Native American college sophomores interested in computing science and engineering careers. Students will also have the opportunity to network with tech professionals and receive coaching from leading companies. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2021. Once accepted, participants can expect to earn more than $180,000 per year. However, if you are not a native or black American student, you may not be eligible for this program.
The SEO Career program is a 40-year-old tradition in recruiting and training underrepresented college students. This program offers unparalleled support to the students of these schools. The program measures overall success by tracking participants' technical skills levels, which will be evaluated during the selection process. After completing the program, the data will be compared to previous levels to determine the number of students who are most likely to land a job in the field.
